Bucking the idea that ultramodern designs must be sleek, simple and angular, this tree was designed by Shanfan Huang & Huang Zhe to be the interactive electronic heart of this conceptual living space. It houses audio/visual equipment, computer, cell phone and other gadgets at the center of the room.
In some of their example settings the furniture is largely designed to blend with existing design elements and color schemes. In other cases the new furniture is intended to stand out brightly from the current design scheme and make a bold set of statements.
Sometimes the contrast between old and new can also be used as a focal point. This living room, for example, has a predominant contemporary decor but also features a few rustic elements and antique touches that make it more charming.
