Olive Malone. Living Room. July 19th , 2018.
Set along a wall in a modern home, these designer storage objects by Alf De Fre begin to blur the boundaries between architecture, interior and furniture design. Spatially, they seem as much like extensions of the surrounding walls or art placed against them as they do places to put things. They are more than just bookcases or shelving units.
These naturally beautiful green designs are set against stark white backgrounds to bring them out in sharp relief from their surroundings. Areas of denser moss on vertical surfaces also serve to compliment the horizontal fields of deep ocean blue carpeting throughout the spaces.
You have to be very careful when choosing the furniture for this room. First of all it has to look good and to match with the rest of the furniture from the other rooms or at least to share the same style. Then it has to be very comfortable, and I’m talking about the sofa, because you’ll be spending a lot of time in there. People usually meet there to simply talk or to spend some time together. So it has to loom good and to meet everyone’s needs. To be simple and comfortable.
The layouts show exactly how versatile a modular, customized interior can be. These rooms vary in size and decor, but the one thing that remains constant is the way the Laltrogiorno components are tweaked to create fully personalized layouts.
In this case, the views are the most important element and they became a defining element for the decor. Then there’s also the extensive wall unit and the industrial details such as the exposed brickwork and the ceiling.
